Hot on the heels of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/new-orleans\/blackstone-buys-three-hotels-parking-garage-for-76m-3\/1004112478.html\">The Blackstone Group\u2019s $76 million, three-hotel deal<\/a>, Walton Street Capital dropped $85.3 million on the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Orleans. According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/canalstreetbeat.com\/doubletree-hotel-acquired-for-85-million-or-232000key\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Canal Street Beat<\/a><\/em>, the $232,000-per-key deal included $72.8 million in loans from Starwood Property Mortgage. The 367-key hotel was picked up from Canal Street Property LLC, an entity affiliated with local hotel management firm Expotel Hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 300 Canal St., the 17-story hotel features 16,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom; a 24-hour business center; a heated outdoor pool; a fitness room; the WoW Caf\u00e9 sports bar and lounge; and the PJ\u2019s Coffee of New Orleans coffee shop.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/nashville\/walton-street-capital-pays-70m-for-doubletree-by-hilton\/1004100642.html\">As previously reported<\/a><\/em>, Walton Street Capital recently purchased a DoubleTree-branded hotel in Nashville for $70 million.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_323792\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 305px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2015\/02\/Comfort-Inn-Suites-Downtown.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-323792\" title=\"Comfort Inn &amp; Suites Downtown\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2015\/02\/Comfort-Inn-Suites-Downtown.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Comfort Inn &amp; Suites Downtown<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In other hospitality news, New Castle Hotels &amp; Resorts also made a New Orleans hotel acquisition, purchasing the 103-key Comfort Inn &amp; Suites Downtown for $9 million. Private equity firm Rockbridge provided financing for the acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>The Baronne Street hotel will undergo a $10 million renovation, opening in time for the 2016 French Quarter Festival. Currently, the hotel features a fitness facility, a business center and the Voodoo Too cocktail lounge.<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans\u2019 hospitality market also caught the eye of Marriott International.
