{"id":1004109804,"date":"2014-12-19T07:37:21","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T15:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/?p=1004109804"},"modified":"2022-12-08T19:46:20","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T03:46:20","slug":"skanska-to-build-boeing-paint-facility-in-charleston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/skanska-to-build-boeing-paint-facility-in-charleston\/","title":{"rendered":"Skanska to Build Boeing Paint Facility in Charleston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><i>By Keith Loria, Contributing Editor<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Skanska USA is developing an $82 million, 375,000-square-foot decorative paint facility in Charleston, S.C., for aerospace giant Boeing.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will be used by Boeing to paint its 787 aircraft, and will include two paint bays, office towers, and mechanical and electrical rooms. The facility will also contain an extensive MEP system to handle the airflow requirements for the paint process.<\/p>\n<p>Construction began in November and is expected to be completed in November 2016.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time that Skanska has worked with the aerospace giant. The two companies have a long history. Skanska has been performing construction work for Boeing since 1962 and in 2012, receiving Boeing\u2019s Supplier of the Year award. In 2013, Skanska completed work on Boeing\u2019s 180,000-square-foot Everett Delivery Center in Everett, Wash., and has several projects under way on Boeing\u2019s campuses throughout the Puget Sound region.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a busy week for Skanska, as it also won the contract to build Osceola County\u2019s planned $270 million Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research Center. In fact, the whole year has been strong. In September, Skanska USA Commercial Development began work on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/houston\/skanska-usa-ready-to-start-development-of-west-memorial-place-ii\/1004103606.html\">development of West Memorial Place II<\/a>, a 381,000-square-foot office building in the Energy Corridor. In June, the company signed a contract to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/baton-rouge\/lsu-breaks-ground-on-110m-engineering-complex\/1004108953.html\">renovate and expand Patrick F.
