Edison Prep School Collegiate Center<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Edison Preparatory School in Tulsa broke ground Nov. 25th on a $4.4 million addition. Designed by KSQ Architects, the 18,500-square-foot building will function as the Collegiate Center for the public school, complete with a top-rated FEMA storm shelter, according to a statement.<\/p>\n

Located at 2906 E. 41st St. in midtown Tulsa, the new bond-funded Collegiate Center will feature two multipurpose lecture and testing halls, academic counseling offices, two concurrent enrollment classrooms, a conference and meeting room, computer research center and an academic study hall and lounge. The two new multipurpose halls will also double as FEMA-361, ICC-500-rated safe rooms designed to provide maximum protection during tornados and hurricanes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you can\u2019t see from casual observation is that the infrastructure beneath the building\u2019s exterior is as impressive as what meets the eye,\u201d said KSQ principal David Short. \u201cTo have this type of progressive design and a top-rated storm shelter in one project is an accomplishment for our entire team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edison Preparatory School opened in 1956 on a 44-acre lot on 41st St. between Harvard and Lewis, and serves students from the sixth through the 12th grades.<\/p>\n

Crossland Construction is the project\u2019s general contractor, and Wallace Engineering is providing structural engineering services. The Collegiate Center is scheduled for completion in mid-2015.<\/p>\n
