Love\u2019s Travel Stop & Country Store announced plans to expand in Albuquerque\u2019s West Side by building a second, larger, 24\/7 truck stop at the Interstate 40 and Atrisco Vista Boulevard interchange. The family-owned company has purchased 11 acres of land near the Tempur-Pedic Mattresses facility.<\/p>\n

The seller of the land was Rio Grande Oil. The 11,000-sq.-ft. location will be three times bigger than Love\u2019s existing 3,600-sq.-ft. travel stop that opened 30 years ago, reports Albuquerque Journal<\/a>, and will create jobs for 40 to 50 employees. The total investment will be about $7.5 million.<\/p>\n

The new truck stop will sell compressed natural gas (CNG) to motorists and truck drivers alike. \u201cIt\u2019s a growing trend we\u2019ve seen in the trucking industry,\u201d Dorian said, noting CNG is currently selling for $1.99 a gallon. \u201cWe currently have 10 fast-fill CNG locations and have plans to open eight more, including the new Albuquerque location.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Carl\u2019s Jr. restaurant, a gourmet coffee and drink fountain, gift merchandise and products for professional drivers will be made available on site. Furthermore, the store will feature 68 parking spaces for tractor trailers and showers for the drivers. \u201cOur new location will also have a Love\u2019s Truck Tire Care facility that offers tire and light mechanical services for professional drivers,\u201d Dorian said.<\/p>\n

Love\u2019s Travel Stop & Country Store has more than 330 stores in 39 states, growing with approximately 20 locations from year to year. It employs around 10,000 people and generates more than $26 billion in annual revenue.<\/p>\n
