Cushman &amp; Wakefield Inc. has been selected to lease and manage the properties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The two office buildings will add 485,000 square feet of space to the market. Both are scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2017. They will be located on Maine Avenue and will be LEED Gold certified. The larger of the two is 1000 Maine Ave., with 265,000 square feet of space. The other is 800 Maine Ave., 220,000 square feet; its tenants will have access to The Wharf Club, with its 7,000-square-foot fitness center, meeting rooms and infinity-edged pool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cAcross Washington, D.C., we are seeing an expansion of varied but centralized cores as we attract and retain new businesses and a growing population,\u201d Monty Hoffman, managing member of Hoffman-Madison, said in a statement for the press. \u201cThe Wharf in Southwest will offer unparalleled waterfront office space to rival any of the four quadrants of the District amidst dynamic lifestyle amenities for working, living, boating, dining, shopping and entertaining. There has never been an opportunity of the size, location and development potential anywhere in the nation\u2019s capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The 25-acre Wharf mixed-use development is part of the District of Columbia\u2019s Anacostia Waterfront Initiative. When fully finished, it will offer almost 3 million square feet of residential, office, hotel, retail and public space, including waterfront parks, promenades, piers and docks.
