\"\"<\/a>Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd.’\u2019s $200 million project in Moraine has taken another step forward. An affiliate of the Chinese company, Fuyao Glass America Inc., has hired Dayton-based Woolpert to provide architectural, engineering, construction support and design consulting services for the project.<\/p>\n

At the start of the year, Gov. John Kasich announced that the company will build its first North American automotive glass manufacturing facility on the 110-acre site of the former General Motors assembly plant. Fuyao Glass, which is China\u2019s largest auto glass manufacturer, purchased the 1.4 million-square-foot site in May from the Industrial Realty Group.<\/p>\n

The site is located between Kettering Boulevard and State Route 741. According to Woolpert, preliminary plans call for it to be reconfigured and divided into separate facilities, with partial demolition of some buildings. New offices will also be added for the plant\u2019s support functions. Woolpert officials said they will analyze the existing plant to determine the most cost-effective means to update its mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe initially considered several choices but ultimately selected Woolpert because of its reputation as a top national design firm and a good local company. We were impressed with their enthusiasm to establish a long-term relationship with Fuyao,\u201d Junming Wang, Fuyao\u2019s Ohio project manager, said in a statement. \u201cWe believe this collaboration with Woolpert will result in a mutually beneficial outcome for us, for Woolpert and for this region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to play a role in a project of such significance to the Dayton region,\u201d Mike Flannery, Woolpert\u2019s CEO, added. \u201cThe economic impacts will reach deep into the community with new jobs, increased tax revenues, additional development of the surrounding area and enhanced supply chain opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fuyao Glass said it expects to start production at the new facility in the summer of 2015. The project will create 800 jobs.<\/p>\n
