Technology\/Data Center Outside Detroit\u2019s CBD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>By Veronica Grecu, Associate Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_263735\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/05\/Quicken-Loans-Technology-Center.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-263735\" title=\"Quicken Loans Technology Center - Corktown, Detroit\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/05\/Quicken-Loans-Technology-Center.jpg\" alt=\"Quicken Loans Technology Center - Corktown, Detroit\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Quicken Loans Technology Center &#8211; Corktown, Detroit<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The site of a former industrial building sitting at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Porter Street in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit is being redeveloped into a new technology center by online mortgage lender Quicken Loans Inc. and its affiliate Bedrock Real Estate Services LLC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to <em><a title=\"Crain's Detroit Business\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crainsdetroit.com\/article\/20140110\/BLOG016\/140119990\/gilbert-buys-a-non-gilbert-type-of-building-and-its-outside-the\" rel=\"nofollow\">Crain\u2019s Detroit Business<\/a>, <\/em>in November 2013<em> <\/em>the 38,000-square-foot industrial warehouse located at 1401 Rosa Parks was acquired for $625,000 by Dan Gilbert, the founder and chairman of Quicken Loans who owns around 8 million square feet of real estate space in Detroit, \u00adthrough his real estate investment arm Rock ventures LLC. Reportedly, the single-story property was occupied by two tenants at the moment of sale\u2014the Great American Truck Driving School and Concrete Cutting Co. \u2014but the companies left the building shortly after the deal was closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 66,000-square-foot Quicken Loans Technology Center is scheduled to open in January 2015 and will serve as a data center and office complex. Set to become Dan Gilbert\u2019s first development project located outside Detroit\u2019s Central Business District, the state-of-the-art technology center also marks Bedrock\u2019s second ground-up development in the city after the <a title=\"Gilbert-Owned Companies Snag Two More Office Buildings, Invite Artists to Color Garage Building\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/detroit\/gilbert-owned-companies-snag-two-more-office-buildings-invite-artists-to-color-garage-building\/1004085370.html\" >Z Garage<\/a> facility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The concrete and glass structure was designed by Integrated Design Solutions of Troy with Turner Construction Co. in charge of construction, according to <em><a title=\"Crain's Detroit Business\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crainsdetroit.com\/article\/20140520\/NEWS\/140529978\/construction-begins-on-quicken-loans-technology-center-in-corktown\" rel=\"nofollow\">Crain\u2019s<\/a><\/em>. The technology center will include 10,000 square feet of server rooms featuring next-generation air conditioning systems to cool the servers, as well as training, office and support space.
