One year later the site containing 250,000 square feet of laboratory, office and warehouse space was acquired by Penn for $13 million.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_245207\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 250px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/03\/University-of-Pennsylvania-South-Bank-conceptual-land-use-plan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-245207\" title=\"University of Pennsylvania - South Bank conceptual land use plan\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/03\/University-of-Pennsylvania-South-Bank-conceptual-land-use-plan.jpg\" alt=\"University of Pennsylvania - South Bank conceptual land use plan\" width=\"240\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">University of Pennsylvania &#8211; South Bank conceptual land use plan<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Designed by architecture firm Wallace Roberts and Todd (WRT) to support entrepreneurial and innovation growth in Philadelphia, the South Bank is an important component of Penn Connects 2.0\u2014an ambitious long-term development strategy that has added almost 3 million square feet of space to Penn\u2019s campus and increased the university\u2019s open space on campus by 25 percent since 2006, when the university embarked on a two-decade expansion plan.<\/p>\n<p>A 200,000-square-foot incubator and accelerator dubbed the \u201cPennovation Center\u201d will anchor the university\u2019s campus and will serve as a hub for collaboration and creativity while encouraging the exchange of ideas for innovators from Penn\u2019s departments.
