Edlen to develop a 209-unit workforce rental project, which will be part of the company\u2019s $300 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/honolulu\/stanford-carr-joins-with-kamehameha-schools-to-develop-300m-residential-project-in-kakaako\/\" ><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Keauhou Lane<\/em><\/a> mixed-use residential development in Kakaako. <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" pacific\/news\/2014\/02\/07\/gerding-edlen-to-develop-workforce.html\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Pacific Business News<\/em><\/a>, plans call for a nearly 70,000-square-foot building with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments reserved for middle-income workers. The six-story structure will also feature 17,590 square feet of ground-floor retail space, 14,290 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space and a 280-stall parking garage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Kamehameha Schools has partnered with Stanford Carr Development for the construction of the Keauhou Lane project, which is slated to rise on a block bordered by South, Pohukaina, Halekauwila and Keawe streets. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Stanford Carr\u2019s portion of the development includes a 40-story residential tower called Keauhou Place and a parking structure. The high-rise will bring 600 residences, 400 of which will be for-sale units, while the remaining 200 will be rentals, along with ground-floor commercial space. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The new tower will be separated from Kamehameha Schools\u2019 low-rise mixed-use building by a pedestrian promenade that may connect to the rail transit station planned by the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Combined, the two housing projects will offer a total of 800 residences, about 50,000 square feet of recreational space and more than 65,000 square feet of open space. Construction is expected to begin in mid- to late 2014 and be complete in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Keauhou Lane development is part of Kamehameha Schools\u2019 \u201cOur Kakaako\u201d master plan, which calls for the development of seven residential towers on nine city blocks.
