{"id":1004090375,"date":"2014-01-24T09:55:18","date_gmt":"2014-01-24T17:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/?p=232355"},"modified":"2020-05-14T00:04:18","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T08:04:18","slug":"magnum40-north-j-v-to-develop-student-housing-in-manhattan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/magnum40-north-j-v-to-develop-student-housing-in-manhattan\/","title":{"rendered":"Magnum\/40 North J-V to Develop Student Housing in Manhattan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>By Veronica Grecu, Associate Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The School of Visual Arts, one of the largest independently regionally accredited art colleges in the country, will add a new dormitory building to its campus in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/therealdeal.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/31\/ben-shaoul-developing-school-of-visual-arts-dorm\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Real Deal<\/a><\/em>reports that the 14-story residence hall will be developed by a joint venture between Magnum Real Estate Group and 40 North Properties, a local development company focused on commercial and residential developments across the five New York City boroughs.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_232356\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/01\/School-of-Visual-Arts-Dormitory.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-232356\" title=\"School of Visual Arts Dormitory\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2014\/01\/School-of-Visual-Arts-Dormitory.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">School of Visual Arts Dormitory at 407 First Avenue on 24 Street<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Set to occupy an existing parking lot of 4,200 square feet at 407 First Avenue on 24 Street, the building was designed by Ismael Leyva Architects as an L-shaped structure that will allow the construction of a six-story wing on First Avenue. Reportedly, construction at the 147,000-square-foot residence hall will start in spring 2014 with a completion date set for the beginning of the fall semester 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once open, the new School of Visual Arts residence hall will provide over 500 dormitory beds within 242 suites.
