Ridgeview Medical Center recently announced it has assumed the operation of Sibley Medical Center and its four primary-care clinics. A new nonprofit entity, wholly owned by Ridgeview Medical Center, was created to fulfill the terms of the lease agreement with the city of Arlington. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As per the lease agreement, the city will own the Sibley Medical Center buildings and major equipment and will lease them to the new corporation. Ridgeview Medical Center will assume the operation of the medical center and its clinics and will also make capital improvements to certain areas of the hospital and clinic facilities.<\/p>\n

The new organization will be governed by a new board, which will include nine voting members: five Arlington residents, three from other Sibley County communities and one representative from Ridgeview Medical Center.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Todd Sandberg, CEO of the medical center, said: \u201cThis is an exciting time for all of us\u2014including our patients, staff and greater community members. SMC and Ridgeview share a common vision to provide accessible, local and high-quality, patient-centered care. With this agreement, we have the opportunity to further strengthen our two healthcare organizations while continuing to improve the health of the people and communities we serve \u2026 for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sibley Medical Center has had a management contract with Ridgeview Medical Center since 2007. In 2012, it approached Ridgeview with a request to explore a more integrated relationship. In November 2013 at a special open meeting of the Sibley Medical Center Board, the board approved a resolution that recommended approval of the operating lease between the city of Arlington and Ridgeview Medical Center.<\/p>\n
