{"id":1004088499,"date":"2013-12-13T16:42:16","date_gmt":"2013-12-14T00:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/?p=226176"},"modified":"2022-12-06T06:55:28","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T14:55:28","slug":"ge-selects-oklahoma-city-site-for-110m-oil-gas-research-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/ge-selects-oklahoma-city-site-for-110m-oil-gas-research-center\/","title":{"rendered":"GE Selects Oklahoma City Site for $110M Oil &amp; Gas Research Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Gabriel Circiog, Associate Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>General Electric has picked downtown Oklahoma City as the site of a $110 million oil and gas technology research center. <a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/12\/GE-Global-Research-Oil-Gas-Technology-Center-in-Oklahoma-City.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-226179\" title=\"GE Global Research Oil &amp; Gas Technology Center in Oklahoma City\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/12\/GE-Global-Research-Oil-Gas-Technology-Center-in-Oklahoma-City.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"117\" \/><\/a>As previously reported by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/cities\/tulsa-oklahoma-city\/ge-eyes-sites-for-110m-research-center\/\">Commercial Property Executive<\/a><\/em> in April 2013, GE has been searching for a site to build a facility that will pursue innovation in oil and gas technology and speed time to market for new products.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 10th Street and Walnut Avenue, the 95,000-square-foot facility will focus on accelerating oil and gas technologies developed in GE\u2019s research labs. Negotiations with the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Association on the property are expected to conclude this month. GE has selected Miles Associates, a local architecture firm, to serve as lead designer.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is scheduled to start next spring and be completed in 2015. \u00a0GE is leasing temporary office space at City Place Tower in downtown Oklahoma City during development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new center\u2019s close proximity to many of our customers and the state\u2019s great university network and engineering talent will allow us to accelerate the development of new technologies,&#8221; said Michael Ming, the facility&#8217;s general manager, in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>GE envisions the research center as a collaborative hub for domestic and global customers, and as a means of building new ties with major universities, including Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa. The project will initially create 130 high-tech jobs for researchers and will have an estimated $13 million economic impact.
