Before joining Colliers, he was an assistant vice president at NorthMarq Real Estate Services, where he expanded the investment sales team into four new markets and built it into the capital markets division at NorthMarq Capital.<\/p>\n

Best Advice Received:<\/i> \u201cBe principled. Do what\u2019s right.\u201d Though it may be hard in the short term, doing what you strongly believe is right usually leads to the best long-term results. \u201cI\u2019ve tried to practice this myself, but I\u2019ve also noticed that principled people seem to sleep better, they have less anxiety. I think it\u2019s just a good way of life in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

Secrets to Success:<\/i> Leadership. \u201cThe whole commercial real estate industry is searching for the next generation of leaders who can mobilize and motivate the masses toward common goals.\u201d Also, \u201cbe patient, listen, ask critical questions, and only then figure out where your path forward is going to be.\u00a0 A lot of challenges are solved more easily when you spend more time listening than talking. Lastly, if you don\u2019t have a sense of humor in this business, it\u2019s tough to have staying power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greatest Challenges: <\/i>The difficult economy. \u201cFlorida got hit hard\u2014there\u2019s no secret to that; the markets have not been forgiving here. … Things are getting better, and pockets are getting better at faster paces, but there\u2019s still a hangover from how bad it was at the depths of the real estate recession.\u201d<\/p>\n

Advice to Others: <\/em>Learn as much as you can about all aspects of the business and industry. The most successful people in this business have depth and breadth. \u201cYou can\u2019t just know your specialty. You have to continue learning the breadth of the business, and that will help you put all the pieces together on why clients need what they need.\u201d<\/p>\n
