Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced it would bring the Aloft brand to the Triangle with the opening of two new properties. <\/span><\/p>\n

In Raleigh, the company is planning the construction of a 135-room hotel on Hillsborough Street, across the street from North Carolina State University\u2019s iconic bell tower. <\/span><\/p>\n

Owned by a joint venture between the Bernstein Companies and Bell View Partners, Aloft Raleigh will feature an outdoor pool, more than 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, two retail storefronts, as well as an outdoor space on the second floor that extends over the Hillsborough Street sidewalk. The property is scheduled to open in the summer of 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted to debut Aloft in Raleigh and expect the hotel will emerge as a hotspot among savvy travelers, area professionals and students in this dynamic university town,\u201d said Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of Specialty Select Brands for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. \u201cJust five years since it launched, Aloft recently opened its 75th hotel and is coming online in new markets all the time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier in September, the owners of the Aloft hotel chain have also announced plans to develop the 134-room Aloft Durham Downtown in the city\u2019s American Tobacco Historic District. Owned by Davidson & Jones, the property will offer a variety of amenities, including an outdoor pool, a 24-hour gym, and approximately 2,230 square feet of flexible meeting space. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aloft Durham Downtown\u2019s location at the intersection of Blackwell and Vivian Streets will offer guests easy access to the Durham Convention Center, Duke University and Medical Center and Research Triangle Park. Construction is expected to begin later this year and be complete by May 2015. <\/span><\/p>\n
