{"id":1004086131,"date":"2013-10-31T06:22:53","date_gmt":"2013-10-31T14:22:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/?p=209707"},"modified":"2020-05-12T23:31:14","modified_gmt":"2020-05-13T07:31:14","slug":"historic-buildings-to-become-mixed-use-community-in-old-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/historic-buildings-to-become-mixed-use-community-in-old-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Historic Buildings to Become Mixed-Use Community in Old City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Veronica Grecu, Associate Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>An assembly of ten buildings located at the corner of Market Street and North 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Street (pictured) in what is known as the \u201cShirt Corner\u201d in the Old City neighborhood will be converted into a mixed-use complex, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/philadelphia\/blog\/real-estate\/2013\/10\/shirt-corner-in-old-city-to-become-new.html?iana\" rel=\"nofollow\">Philadelphia Business Journal<\/a> <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_209786\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/Market-and-North-3rd-Street-Philadelphia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-209786\" title=\"Market and North 3rd Street Philadelphia\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/Market-and-North-3rd-Street-Philadelphia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Market and N 3rd Streets, Old City Philadelphia<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Behind the $20 million project is Alterra Property Group, a locally based real estate investment, development and management company which has built and\/or redeveloped hundreds of housing units in Philadelphia\u2019s historic district.<\/p>\n<p>While the reconversion project is not fully approved yet, the developer is working with the Philadelphia Historical Commission and community members as four properties are listed as historic buildings. Alterra should complete the acquisition of the ten properties in the following weeks, according to information by the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.philly.com\/philly\/food\/20131029_Development_slated_for__Shirt_Corner__in_Old_City.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the project plans designed by Coscia Moos Architects, two buildings should be demolished and replaced by a new, 54,000-square-foot structure that will look very similar to the Colonial-style buildings in the area. The project will feature 40,000 square feet of residential space including 59 apartments.
