{"id":1004085786,"date":"2013-10-24T07:29:14","date_gmt":"2013-10-24T15:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/?p=205152"},"modified":"2020-04-30T08:16:15","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T16:16:15","slug":"green-housing-development-breaks-ground-in-south-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/green-housing-development-breaks-ground-in-south-philadelphia\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Housing Development Breaks Ground in South Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Veronica Grecu, Associate Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia\u2019s commitment to green building and design was highlighted once again last week at an official ceremony that marked the ground breaking of a new, energy efficient residential community.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_205153\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 250px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/reNewbold-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-205153 \" title=\"reNewbold 1\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/reNewbold-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">reNewbold<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A joint venture between LPMG Companies, Postgreen Homes and Interface Studio Architects (ISA) is transforming the former site of the Drexel School at the corner of 16<sup>th<\/sup> and Moore Streets in the Newbold section of South Philadelphia into the area\u2019s first affordable, green residential community designed to seek LEED Platinum and Energy Star certification.<\/p>\n<p>reNewbold will include 16 superinsulated rowhomes\u2014seven of which have already been sold or reserved\u2014with onsite parking, one street-level retail unit and two condo units built above the retail space. The project is 100 percent privately financed and, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/philly.curbed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" archives\/2013\/10\/18\/renewbold-officially-breaks-ground-in-south-philly.php\">Curbed Philly<\/a><\/em>, it will be built in two stages, with the development effort focused initially on six units along Bancroft Street.<\/p>\n<p>With prices ranging from $249,000 to $325,000, each two- or three-story home can be customized to meet the buyer\u2019s demand. All units are designed to reach a 50 percent drop in energy use as compared to regular homes similar in size. The rowhomes will feature sustainable amenities such as triple-pane windows, green roofs, roof decks, Energy Star appliances, and low-flow fixtures that will reduce the monthly cost of utilities to around $90.
