Both deals were brokered by Rock Ventures\u2019 sister company Bedrock Real Estate Services, who will also oversee renovations, management and leasing of the spaces.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_200845\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/1505-Woodward-Avenue-Detroit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-200845\" title=\"1505 Woodward Avenue Detroit\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/1505-Woodward-Avenue-Detroit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">1505 Woodward Avenue Detroit<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The two buildings, 1505 Woodward Avenue and 1265 Griswold Street, have a combined square footage of 84,000. According to a Quicken Loans spokesperson quoted by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" entertainment\/detroit\/index.ssf\/2013\/10\/dan_gilbert_buys_two_more_down.html\">MLive.com<\/a><\/em>, the facilities are currently vacant and will be renovated and transformed into mixed-use buildings.<\/p>\n<p>1505 Woodward Avenue is an eight-story, 48,000-square-foot structure designed by famous architect Albert Kahn that was built in 1931 to house Richman Brothers, a Cleveland-based clothing company.<\/p>\n<p>Originally known as the Bamlet Building, the six-story, 36,000-square-foot structure located at the southwest corner of Griswold Street and Grand River Avenue was built in 1896 by architectural firm Spier &amp; Rohns.<\/p>\n<p>The company hasn\u2019t disclosed the purchase prices, but <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crainsdetroit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" article\/20131015\/NEWS\/131019888\/gilbert-buys-former-bamlet-building-on-griswold-kahn-designed\">Crain\u2019s Detroit Business<\/a><\/em> suggests that the buildings could have fetched a combined amount of $4.23 million.<\/p>\n<p>Almost three years after acquiring the historic Madison Theatre and renovating it into The M@dison to provide creative office space for startups, Rock Ventures\u2019 real estate portfolio in Detroit has reached nearly 40 properties, or 8 million square feet of commercial and parking space.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_200844\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 250px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/The-Z-Detroit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-200844\" title=\"The Z Detroit\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/10\/The-Z-Detroit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Z Detroit<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We are as bullish as ever on the future of Detroit and will continue to invest in properties we believe strategically fit our mission to transform the city,&#8221; said Matt Cullen, president and CEO of Rock Ventures, in a statement for the press.<\/p>\n<p>To stress the \u201ccity transformation\u201d aspect of this aggressive investment strategy, Rock Venture\u2019s sister company Bedrock Real Estate Services teamed up with Library Street Collective, an art gallery based in Detroit, and recently invited 27 international artists to spice up a Z-shaped retail\/garage facility in Detroit\u2019s Central Business District.
