Honolulu-based general contractor Allied Builders System has been selected to oversee the construction of a 27,000-square-foot commercial center in the Oahu North Shore town of Haleiwa. Kamehameha Schools made the announcement during the project\u2019s groundbreaking blessing ceremony, held on Sept. 26.<\/span><\/p>\n

Designed by Group 70 International Inc., the $16.1 million retail center known as Haleiwa Store Lots will feature five repurposed plantation-era buildings, a central gathering place, 95 parking stalls, as well as walkways and landscaping. Currently, the project is 77 percent leased through agent Colliers International. <\/span><\/p>\n

Upon completion, the property will be anchored by Matsumoto Shave Ice and Whaler\u2019s General Store. Other tenants include Rajanee Thai Cuisine, Global Creations, T&C Surf, Fatboy\u2019s, Splash! Hawaii, Island Vintage Coffee, Kahala Sportswear, Mahina and Uncle Bo\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with Kamehameha Schools on the revitalization of historic Haleiwa Town,\u201d Allied Builders System vice president Justin Izumi said in a statement. \u201cWe look forward to building a destination that locals and visitors can all enjoy.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The project is expected to create nearly 100 construction jobs and be complete by the fall of 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n
