The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis hotel recently announced completion of Phase II of its renovation. Phase II included a major expansion which added more than 20,000 square feet of event space, an extra 112 guestrooms and 54 high-end suites to one of the largest hotel properties in the Twin Cities. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first phase of the renovation, which was completed in June 2012, included the renovation of the hotel\u2019s guestrooms, suites, public areas and restaurants. The whole project was funded and led by a joint venture of affiliates of Starwood Capital Group, Haberhill and Hyatt Hotels. The construction firm on the project was MP Johnson Construction Inc., while New York-based Stonehill & Taylor was responsible for the architecture and interior design.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to unveil a second round of multimillion-dollar enhancements that reflect the unique heritage of Minnesota,\u201d said Mark Becker, general manager of the hotel. \u201cThe largest event space in the city and new guestrooms and suites allows Hyatt Regency Minneapolis to attract even more meetings and conventions, as well as accommodate leisure travelers.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Phase II completed, the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis now features more than 100,000 square feet of flexible meetings and event space, 645 rooms, dining outlets, an indoor heated pool and a new health club. The new meeting space includes flexible breakout rooms varying in size from 400 to 4,500 square feet and two ballrooms: the two-story Great Lakes Ballroom, featuring 12,000 square feet of space, and the 10,500-square-foot Northstar Ballroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur main goal for the design was to create a beautiful hotel that is socially sustainable, thus supporting the local economy and jobs,\u201d said Michael Suomi, principal & vice president of interior design at Stonehill & Taylor. \u201cThe success of our comprehensive Phase I renovation led the way to a new phase of renovation focused on creating higher-end accommodations and large event areas that support this goal and make this the premier hotel in Minneapolis.\u201d<\/p>\n
