According to an official statement, the joint venture between Alloy Development and Monadnock Construction\u2014both based in Brooklyn\u2014was tapped to redevelop the 1.5-acre vacant site that was previously owned and maintained by Consolidated Edison Inc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBrooklyn Bridge Park has quickly become one of our city\u2019s favorite parks, attracting visitors who enjoy its innovative design, new amenities and breathtaking views,\u201d said Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a press, statement, adding that \u201cnew parkland and residential development at John Street will allow the park to grow and continue to thrive as one of the highlights of our <a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/08\/DUMBO-Alloy-Monadnock-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-157084\" title=\"DUMBO Alloy-Monadnock 2\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/08\/DUMBO-Alloy-Monadnock-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a>city\u2019s new green waterfront.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Set to break ground in 2014 and expected to be completed in winter 2015, the project will add 47 new housing units\u2014most probably condos totaling 96,440 square feet\u2014immediately north of the Manhattan Bridge as well as 2,650 square feet of ground floor retail space and 1,750 square feet of cultural space which will include the first annex of the Brooklyn Children\u2019s Museum.
