And it doesn\u2019t always lead to automatic success. <a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/06\/chappys-on-church.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-141015\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/06\/chappys-on-church.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a>That\u2019s a lesson one Nashville restaurant learned the hard way.<\/p>\n<p>In what was a resounding disappointment, Chappy\u2019s on Church, a Cajun restaurant located at 1721 Church St. in Nashville\u2019s Midtown, signed up to be featured on the Gordon Ramsay-led Kitchen Nightmares reality show. The move, meant to bring publicity for the restaurant and bigger revenues, had the opposite effect. In fact, the restaurant has been closed down by the Tennessee Department of Revenue for not paying state taxes, reports the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" nashville\/morning_call\/2013\/06\/chappys-restaurant-closed-seized-by.html\" ><em>Nashville Business Journal<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Chappy\u2019s had been struggling for quite some time. The same source reported the restaurant\u2019s building sold in a foreclosure auction in early 2012, and was purchased by Dialysys Clinic, Inc. for $1.3 million. The restaurant remained on as a tenant however. But the business\u2019 appearance on television showed the restaurant to have a less-than-sanitary kitchen. Potential costumers avoided the eatery, and revenue kept going down. While the former owners have revealed on social media that they&#8217;re taking time with family, no news has been released to future tenants about the lease.<\/p>\n<p>According to real estate website <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyshark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" mason\/tn_davidson\/Reports2\/showsection.html?propkey=116384057\" >PropertyShark.co<\/a>m<\/em>, the single-story building housing the now defunct eatery comprises 17,200 square feet and was built in 1928. Previous to its foreclosure auction, it was owned by Chappy\u2019s on Church former owners, who purchased in 2007 for $2.8 million the asset and were operating the entity as Chapman, John H &amp; Starr S.
