McWhinney, a Colorado-based real estate investment and development company, has partnered with Grand American, Inc. to redevelop the city block between 18th\/19th and Blake\/Wazee Streets in Denver\u2019s vibrant Lower Downtown District.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lower downtown Denver area is a pretty, vibrant, growing and exciting place. This block presented an opportunity for us in concert with Grand America to redevelop it,\u201d a spokesperson for McWhinney, told Commercial Property Executive<\/em>. \u201cIt made good sense for us to partner with them and see what we could do to create some vibrancy along that block.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently in the design phase, the project is being called the \u201cHistoric Windsor Dairy Block\u201d and will consist of a mixed-use development of nearly 325,000 square feet that will include office, retail and multi-family uses with private, on-site, underground parking.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be an increasingly integral part of Denver\u2019s incredible revitalization, redevelopment and infill efforts,\u201d Chad McWhinney, McWhinney\u2019s CEO and co-founder, said in a company statement. \u201cDenver continues to provide us with great opportunities for creative and responsible real estate deals that align perfectly with our values of creating a true sense of place and ultimately, spurring broader economic growth.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the McWhinney spokesperson, the block is well connected to the rest of downtown and is close by the Union Station redevelopment project, which McWhinney is co-developed. McWhinney has also been responsible for multi-use developments in Colorado such as Centerra in Loveland and North Park in Broomfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cLower downtown Denver has been for a number of years the place for mixed-use [development], we have some office both developed and being developed, some high-end retail in and going in, and also some affordable housing,\u201d the spokesperson added. \u201cIt\u2019s a great mix of all kinds of different opportunity. With the development of Union Station, and the advent of some more hotels going in, it\u2019s an exciting place to be.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project is currently in the early phases of the design process but the completed plans are expected to showcase a space that reinforces the existing character and development pattern of the Lower Downtown District.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe process for us is to go in front of the Lower Downtown Design Review Committee for approval and once that\u2019s done, we can make our plans public,\u201d the spokesperson concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
