Together, the two locations will replace a network of 23 data centers operated by GM, as well as three information technology suppliers from around the world. They will add to the company\u2019s existing data centers in Austin, TX, Roswell, GA, and Chandler, AZ.<a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/06\/GM-Warren-Data-Center.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-136959\" title=\"GM Warren Data Center\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2013\/06\/GM-Warren-Data-Center.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As reported by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" auto\/index.ssf\/2013\/05\/gm_construction_underway_of_25.html\">MLive.com<\/a><\/em>, GM is investing $546 million on equipment and infrastructure for its two Metro Detroit facilities, which will oversee the company\u2019s IT operations globally while paving the way for a smarter and faster work environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHaving a single nerve center for our global operations will get newer vehicle designs and technologies into our customers\u2019 hands quicker and improve the bottom line,\u201d said GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson in a press statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Located at the GM Milford Proving Ground, the new state-of-the-art data center is expected to open in July 2014. GM will spend $100 million in infrastructure for the Milford facility and another $158 million will be invested in IT equipment. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" article\/20130514\/AUTO0103\/305140325\/1121\/auto0104\/GM-to-invest-$258M-in-Milford-Twp.-data-center\">The Detroit News<\/a> <\/em>reported that the Milford Township approved $3.2 million in tax exemptions for GM\u2019s newest data center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Warren Data Center took over three years to complete and required a $130 million investment. With more than 700 employees already working at the site with a focus on innovation and support, the data center was inspired by tech giants such as Google and Facebook, which have developed similar supercomputing facilities.
