North Carolina has been recently designated as one of the most cost-efficient states in the country in terms of conducting business, so it\u2019s no wonder it keeps attracting more and more investors. Charlotte, in particular, is a sure candidate for economic growth this year as companies continue to bring new jobs and resources to the Queen City.<\/p>\n
Time Warner Cable has just announced its expansion by investing up to $101 million in two new projects in Charlotte, creating 225 high-paid jobs in the process; the average salary was set at $61,044, well-above the county average, for positions in engineering, IT, human resources, accounting and finance.<\/p>\n
The first project consists of a 178,000-square-foot data center whose construction is slated to begin this fall and that is expected to be complete by the end of 2012. The facility will be one of the two national data centers meant to help the company improve services and provide better products, as part of a strategy to maintain a leading position in the highly competitive technological market. The second project is a four-story,103,500-square-foot office building to be used by the new employees by the end of the hiring process in 2014. Both buildings will be constructed according to LEED specifications.<\/p>\n
The initiative is supported by both the city and state through grants and incentives as Time Warner has proved to be a major investor and stable employer since 2002 when it entered the Charlotte market; if the company meets the set annual performance targets, it will receive up to $2.9 million in state grants throughout the following nine years, as reported by the Charlotte Observer<\/em>.<\/p>\n Another company that\u2019s putting down roots in Charlotte and confirming once again the city\u2019s objective to become a renewable energy hub is Jetion Solar Systems, a subsidiary of Jetion Solar China Ltd. The global manufacturer of solar technologies has announced plans to open a production facility on South Commerce Boulevard that will bring about 40 new jobs to the area by the end of this year.
