HYM Investment Group L.L.C detailed plans this week\u00a0for\u00a0Downtown Boston’s largest current proposed project: 2.4 million-square-foot mixed use complex on the\u00a0site of the Government Center Garage.\u00a0As reported Tuesday by the Boston Globe<\/em>, HYM wants to build\u00a01.2 million square feet of office space, 900,000 square feet of residential\u00a0space, 450,000 square feet of hotel space, 400,000 square feet of parking\u00a0and 50,000 square feet of retail. A signature feature would be a 45-story-tall tower that would primarily incorporate office space.<\/p>\n As envisioned by HYM, the dvevelopment\u00a0would help re-connect Boston’s West End with the\u00a0area that includes popular destinations such as Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market. HYM first outlined the project\u00a0in a letter to the Boston Redevelopment Authority last last month. According to information on its Web site, HYM serves as property manager and asset manager for Government Center Garage,\u00a0which is jointly owned by the National Electrical Benefit fund and London-based UKI Boston. The Globe <\/em>quoted HYM’s managing director, Thomas O’Brien, as saying that the first component of the project to move forward would be a $140 million residential tower.<\/p>\n In Braintree, developers broke ground last week on\u00a0a project that will transform\u00a0a closed 374-room Sheraton-branded hotel into a 204-room\u00a0Hyatt Place. As reported by the Globe,\u00a0<\/em> the property will include\u00a032,000 square feet of retail space, including a renovated \u00a08,200-square-foot restaurant and a\u00a06,000-square-foot store jewelry store.\u00a0\u00a0Karma Nominee Trustee L.L.C., an\u00a0entity\u00a0affiliated with\u00a0development company Carpenter & Co. Inc., \u00a0acquired the\u00a010-acre property\u00a0for $9.1 million in February 2010.
