As reported by the <em>Pacific Business News<\/em>, the DEIS entails the development of 1,500 multifamily units, about 140,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and about 80,000 square feet of office space. In addition, the $767-million project may also include a 150-room hotel.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2011, Robertson Properties had modified the master plan for the Aiea project. Initially, the company aimed to develop three 350-foot-high buildings and two 60- to 80-foot buildings, which would have included about 1,800 residential units. In an attempt to reduce the visual impact of the project on the shoreline and to conform to the community\u2019s demands, Robertson Group revised the plan, now proposing only one 350-foot-high tower and four other shorter buildings that range in height between 150 to 300 feet.<\/p>\n<p>The construction process is estimated to last 13 years, create about 1000 jobs per year and infuse the regional economy with $2.4 billion. Public comments to the DEIS will be accepted until the 23rd of March. John Manavian, executive VP of real estate, design and development for Robertson Properties Group, said that the process of creating the DEIS with the help of the community has been rewarding and that, throughout the rezoning process and public comment period, the company will continue taking into consideration the community&#8217;s feedback.<\/p>\n<p>In regional news, A&amp;B Properties has closed on the acquisition of the former CompUSA property in Honolulu from Kamehameha Schools, where the company plans the redevelopment of the property into a residential condominium tower. Located in proximity to Kamehameha\u2019s specialty retail and village center, the development block is likely to benefit from Kamehameha\u2019s planned street-level improvements along Keawe Street.
