Hard Rock International, owner of one\"\"<\/a> of the world’s most iconic brands, announced on April 5 that it plans to develop and operate a $275 million gaming center at Northfield Park. Hard Rock has partnered on the project with Brock Milestein, the owner of the harness track.<\/p>\n

Located in Northfield, Ohio, on the border of Summit and Cuyahoga counties, Northfield Park is one of the nation’s premier harness racetracks. It\u00a0 was originally constructed in 1934 by Al Capone. At that time it was known as Sportsman Park and focused on midget car racing. Sportsman Park was demolished in 1956, and Northfield Park was born. The facility is situated on 115 acres 15 miles south of Cleveland and 18 miles north of Akron. It features more than 200 live racing events each year.<\/p>\n

The Hard Rock Gaming and Entertainment Facility would be developed as part of the current Northfield Park Racetrack. It would include a Hard Rock-branded gaming center, a premium steakhouse, a Hard Rock Cafe, an ongoing lineup of live music and iconic music memorabilia, and would bring 2,500 slot machines to Northfield. There would also be a center bar, a buffet, and conference and meeting space.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to bringing the renowned Hard Rock brand to Northfield Park, as the Hard Rock Gaming and Entertainment Facility would be a state-of-the-art venue, providing world-class entertainment experiences that are unique to the region to complement the local community and its surroundings.” said Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, in a press release.<\/p>\n

The project is expected to create approximately 1,000 permanent jobs and more than 1,000 construction jobs, as well as countless jobs associated with local suppliers and vendors. The proposal is subject to the successful resolution of the pending litigation in Ohio regarding video lottery terminals.<\/p>\n

Hard Rock International has a total of 173 venues in 53 countries, including 138 cafes and 15 hotels\/casinos. It operates hotels and casinos in Tampa, Orlando and Hollywood, Fla.; Las Vegas; Biloxi; Chicago; San Diego; Pattaya; Bali; Macau; Penang; Singapore; and Punta Cana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
