The historic Warner Theater located at 120 N. High Street in downtown West Chester is undergoing a complex renovation and is set to become the borough\u2019s first hotel in decades, informs the\u00a0Daily Local News<\/em>. The construction got the green light during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held last week at the site by the hotel\u2019s owner and president, Brian McFadden of McFadden Hotel Group. The original renovation plans approved by the West Chester Borough Council in 2008 called for a nine-story building with 90 guest rooms but the project has been scaled down to 77 rooms and seven stories because of the recession. According to the\u00a0Daily Local News<\/em>, the renovation project has been financed by members of Southeastern Economic Development Company of Pennsylvania and Univest Bank and Trust Co.<\/p>\n The new Warner Hotel will rise on the site of the former Warner (Bros) Theater which was demolished in 1985, 55 years after it was built. Some of the old building\u2019s features will be preserved, such as the original theater lobby and the original staircase. The new hotel is scheduled to open in May 2012 and it will offer various facilities such as food service, an indoor pool, an exercise room, and banquet and meeting rooms.<\/p>\n While the Warner Theater is being renovated, another historic landmark is up for sale. The Doylestown Inn located on West State Street in Bucks County has gathered a debt of $2.93 million and is currently listed for sale with a local real estate agency, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em>. The hotel was built in 1871 in a combination of Colonial and Victorian styles and operated as a hat shop and shoe store.
