Apple has recently signed a lease that may be the opening round of a large-scale expansion by the technology giant in\u00a0Sunnyvale. Reports peg the deal as the first in a long series of moves that will establish Sunnyvale as the company\u2019s next major destination after its established home in Cupertino.<\/p>\n
The company has taken 215,000 square feet at the Sunnyvale Research Center, according to MercuryNews.com. The facility is being marketed by Colliers International.
\nApple is reportedly going to move into the new venue by the end of Q1. Another Sunnyvale venue, located at 975-995 Benecia Ave., is currently undergoing interior improvements to 100,000 square feet of space, in anticipation of Apple\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n
In development news, one of the Bay Area\u2019s most ambitious redevelopment projects has taken a serious hit as redevelopment agencies across the state are being dismantled. A proposal for East Palo Alto that would include residential units, office space, light industrial buildings, parks and public facilities will be considerably more difficult to carry out following the demise of the city\u2019s redevelopment agency and redirection of its funds to public schools. \u00a0<\/p>\n
