According to the proposal submitted by the real estate development company Toll Brothers to the Society Hill Civic board, the condominium complex will replace the former NewMarket, a failed mixed-use development that opened in 1975 and attracted several uninspired investors over the years, such as Patti LaBelle and Will Smith, only to become a concrete wasteland by 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Horsham-based Toll Brothers intends to build a four-story complex of approximately 73 brick-fronted, low-rise condominiums. The new T-shaped site will be no higher than 60 feet and will include one- and two-bedroom units with sale prices ranging from $400,000 for a one-bedroom to $800,000 for a two-bedroom unit. The plans also include 90 underground parking spaces, but there will be no shops or restaurants on the site. According to <em>NakedPhilly.com<\/em>, the developer plans to start construction in fall 2012 and hopes to complete it within a year.<\/p>\n<p><em>PhillyBurbs.com<\/em> informs that the Doleystown Presbyterian Church is undergoing a \u201cgreen\u201d renovation and expansion. The church board has contracted Dawn Solar Systems Inc. (DSSI) to install a 1,500-square-foot renewable energy system on the roof and Warminster-based Drexel Metals to set up the metal roofing material.
