When it announced plans for a 14-acre headquarters campus in Mission Bay, a move that followed a 400,000 square-foot lease\u00a0at 50 Fremont St., Salesforce immediately became the talk of the\u00a0\u00a0the local real estate market. But once the software company\u00a0surprised the city by announcing that it was putting the plans for a new campus on hold, some thought that the company was abandoning\u00a0its growth plans completely. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Now the saga has taken a new twist. Salesforce has completed a ten-year lease for about 80,000 square feet of space at 600 Townsend St., the San Francisco Business Times reports. Located in San Francisco\u2019s newest tech district, SoMa, the 23-year-old building will house teams from Salesforce\u2019s Desk.com, Do.com and Heroku services.<\/p>\n

Salesforce may follow up with other efforts to secure space in the city. The $339 million lease at 50 Fremont includes an option for an additional 100,562 square feet that must be exercised by December 15. Salesforce also has the option of buying the 42-story, 800,000-square foot between Dec. 1, 2017, and Nov. 30, 2018. The\u00a0 company currently leases space at four other locations in San Francisco.<\/p>\n
