EEB Hub\u2019s dual mission is improving energy efficiency in buildings and promoting regional economic growth and job creation in the city\u2019s 1,200-acre waterfront area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A $30 million redevelopment project was awarded by Pennsylvania State University to a group of Balfour Beatty-owned companies which will fully renovate the existing building (a former gymnasium constructed in 1942 and vacant since 1996, when the Navy Yard activity ceased). According to a recently released statement, work at the permanent EEB Hub headquarters is scheduled to begin in December 2012 and it will take 12 months to complete.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Hill International was designated the facility\u2019s project manager in fall 2011, while KieranTimberlake was appointed the project architect. Environmental Construction Services was selected to provide mechanical and plumbing services, and MC Dean was selected for electrical expertise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Comprising 38,000 square feet, the new offices will include shared work areas, meeting and conference spaces, classrooms and lab spaces, all of which will serve as a regional model of integrated building design methods that result in reduced energy consumption.
