Another $40 million in FEMA funds will go to specific projects in the city, reported <em>The Times-Picayune,<\/em>\u00a0further helping to restore New Orleans to its former glory.<\/p>\n<p>The Morris F.X. Jeff Municipal Auditorium will receive $16.7 million to cover repairs to the electrical system, flooring, walls and several other damages that the building sustained during the hurricane and for which it lacked funding until now.<\/p>\n<p>The New Orleans Museum of Art, a century-old<a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/05\/nola-museum-of-art.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-46542\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/05\/nola-museum-of-art.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a> building, will receive $2.8 million to replace the basement floor, install flood-prevention features, repair the roof and install new lighting fixtures.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana State University is also slated to receive a percentage of the $40 million. The LSU School of Dentistry will benefit to the tune of $3.9 million, while LSU Health Sciences Center will spend its $1.3 million on replacing miscellaneous building contents in the Schools of Graduate Studies, Nursing and Dentistry; two patient care clinics; and two hospitals that make up the health center.<\/p>\n<p>The Louisiana SPCA\u2019s $8 million will go to repairing the society\u2019s animal control facility, while the Youth Center, a detention facility for minors age 8 to 16 awaiting trial, will also be restored, thanks to the $1.3 million in FEMA funding it will receive.<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans will be able to extend its road repairs program\u2019s budget with $4.3 million, while Jefferson parish will increase its road maintenance budget with $2 million in FEMA money.<\/p>\n<p><em>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.multihousingnews.com\/news\/market-snapshot-multifamily-construction-takes-off-in-new-orleans-aided-by-boosts-in-tourism-and-job-growth\/1004049025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here <\/a>for more New Orleans Market Data<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo credit:AlaskanDude via Flickr.com<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Eliza Theiss, Associate Editor There is still plenty to rebuild and repair in New Orleans, but FEMA grants have made a huge difference on the Crescent City&rsquo;s road to recovery.
