Houston\u2019s luxury home market is about to get boost as developers prepare to move ahead on the stalled Winfield Gate project. Rohe & Wright Builders is partnering with the Willis family, the property\u2019s owners, to deliver a gated high-end gated development consisting of 21 townhomes.<\/p>\n
Rohe & Wright is reviving a project that had been put on hold in 2008 during the economic downturn. The developers decided to proceed on the strength of an uptick in the market and the success of other luxury properties such as City Centre, Upper Kirby Estates on Bammel Lane, Caceres near Memorial Park, and 50 Sunset near Rice University.<\/p>\n
Located on San Felipe, just east of Kirby Drive, Winfield Gate will feature a design inspired by Winfield House, a Georgian-style mansion in London that serves as the residence for the U.S. Ambassador. The complex will be arranged around a central courtyard; the three-story-tall homes will have floor plans ranging from 3,400 to 6,400 square feet and prices between $1.2 million and $2 million.<\/p>\n
Complete with rooftop terraces offering potting sheds, elevators and wine vaults, Winfield Gate will also have a high-level security system that will employ a combination of gates and hydraulic bollards to discourage intruders.<\/p>\n
The buildings that currently occupy the three-acre parcel\u00a0are slated for demollition, except for\u00a0the site formerly occupied by Urban Retreat Day Spa and Salon, which is undergoing renovation and will\u00a0house a temporary project sales office.<\/p>\n
Construction will start next year and take about 18 months. Sudhoff Properties is marketing the project.<\/p>\n
