\"\"<\/a>The city planning commission voted\u00a0in favor of the\u00a0development of Tower at PNC Plaza.<\/p>\n

The tower is a 33-story glass office building that will house PNC Financial Services Group. Estimated to cost about $400 million, the PNC tower complex will be built on Wood Street, between Forbes and Fifth avenues.<\/p>\n

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette<\/em>, the tower will be the \u2018greenest skyrise in the world.\u2019 Gary Saulson, PNC\u2019s director of corporate real estate,\u00a0commented that the development process of the tower will be transparent so as to prove PNC\u2019s dedication to green development.<\/p>\n

The demolition date of the existing structures on the tract has been set\u00a0for March,\u00a0and the project is expected to be completed by June 1, 2015. The company\u2019s new\u00a0headquarters will feature about 800,000 square feet of space, and it will house about 3,000 employees. In order to better accommodate the employees and to establish a sense of community, PNC will also develop five six-story “neighborhoods” within the building.<\/p>\n

The Tower at PNC Plaza is expected to be PNC’s third major LEED-certified green project in downtown Pittsburgh. In 2000, PNC Firstside Center has been named as the largest LEED-certified building in the world, while the Three PNC Plaza is one of the largest LEED certified mixed-use building in the state.<\/p>\n

PNC will additionally restore the facades of three properties at 254 and 256 Fifth and 445 Wood. The company will change the windows and the storefronts in an attempt to support a downtown-focused program which aids property owners in making improvements to their buildings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
