Jim Scalo, president of Burns &amp; Scalo Real Estate Services, noted that oil, gas and other types of companies have generated a significant demand for office space in the area.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by the <em>Observer-Reporter<\/em>, Burns &amp; Scalo aims to purchase the site from the Washington County Authority. William Sember, director of operations for the Washington County Authority, said Scalo is considering an 11-acre property adjacent to the Southpointe Town Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Tree-based company already leases and manages 700,000 square feet of office space in Southpointe I. The company plans to break ground this summer and the construction process is estimated to last for a year.<\/p>\n<p>In regional news, IMS Systems Inc. announced the development of a $3.5 million production plant in Adams, Butler County. The 9,500-square-foot facility is expected to create 20 jobs and become operational by 2014.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Pittsburgh TribLive<\/em>, the German-owned company will produce precision instruments for measuring metals. The gauges will measure dimensions of steel and aluminium using American-made components. John Buckman, general manager and vice president of operations at the company, expects to obtain all regulatory approvals in less than\u00a0two years.<\/p>\n<p>In the spring of 2000, IMS Systems opened its North American headquarters, an 8,500-square-foot facility situated in Butler County. The company has grown from\u00a0three to 20 workers,\u00a0as it is about to produce its first gauges made outside Germany.
