\"\"<\/a>Mylan Inc. plans to develop new corporate headquarters near its current location in the Southpointe Office Park in Cecil Township, Washington County, Pa.<\/p>\n

The project entails the development of an approximately 280,000-square-feet LEED-certified office building. Expected to be completed in 2013, the five-story Class-A facility will be located within the Town Center Overlay District.<\/p>\n

Over the past five years, the company\u2019s continuing growth and the constant increase\u00a0in the number of employees generated the need for new headquarters. In a recent official release, Mylan Executive Chairman Robert J. Coury said: \u201cI am very pleased to announce that we are committed to remain in the Pittsburgh area, and in the Southpointe Office Park, in particular. Construction and design of the new facility will focus on the growing needs of our global business, our dedicated employees, as well as current and future environmental impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mylan Inc. is one of the largest generic and specialty pharmaceuticals companies in the world, with a workforce of more than 18,000 employees. Founded in West Virginia in 1961, it now provides more than 1,000 separate high-quality products to customers in approximately 150 countries and territories.<\/p>\n

In related news, the Sampson-Morris Group plans to redevelop the New Federal Cold Storage property, also known as Wholey\u2019s building, into an office facility of approximately 225,000 square feet. The company made a formal announcement through CBRE Inc.,\u00a0which\u00a0will\u00a0market the property.<\/p>\n

According to the Pittsburgh Business Times<\/em>, the estimated cost of the project is between $35 million and $40 million. Eric Booth from Lawrenceville-based Desmone & Associates Architects has been appointed to design the new office building, which will be located in the heart of the Strip District.
