Steiner + Associates\u00a0plans to start work a year from now on a massive project that could become Butler County\u2019s largest retail development. The open-air retail center will include department stores, movie theaters, office space and housing.<\/p>\n
Known as Liberty Town Square, the project is located along Interstate 75 near the Liberty Way interchange. It has been in the works since 2008, and the preliminary planned unit development for the 103-acre site was approved back in July of that year. The project was delayed because of the economic downturn.<\/p>\n
The center will be modeled after Steiner’s Easton Town Center in Columbus and the Greene in Dayton. The first phase is estimated to cost close to $300 million and planned for 1 million square feet. It\u00a0is expected to add 3,000 construction jobs to the area and 4,500 permanent jobs, as well as $1 million to $1.5 million a year in sales tax collections. The open-air retail center is expected to open in 2014.<\/p>\n
Plans may change but, for now, Steiner plans the following for the site:<\/p>\n
\u2022 8,343 parking spaces;
\n\u2022 634,000 square feet of office space;
\n\u2022 450,000 square feet of anchor retail space;
\n\u2022 512,000 square feet of retail space;
\n\u2022 A 60,000 square feet cinema;
\n\u2022 Four restaurants totaling 87,000 square feet;
\n\u2022 100 units of residence-only buildings;
\n\u2022 344,000 square feet of additional residential space;
\n\u2022 Two hotels with 385 rooms.<\/p>\n
Steiner is still negotiating with Butler County, but Liberty Town Square would be one of the first major retail projects to break ground in the United States since the economy went bust in 2008. It could provide economic growth and help the entire area.<\/p>\n
Steiner + Associates was founded in 1993 by Yaromir Steiner. The firm\u2019s corporate offices are located at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio. Liberty Town Square would be Steiner\u2019s sixth such development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
