Hospital construction in Cincinnati has been booming recently. Cincinnati Children\u2019s Hospital Medical Center has a $180 million research tower underway on its main campus, the largest pediatric research center in the United States, and Christ Hospital is getting ready to break ground this summer on a $265 million project. Now, Mercy Health has joined them with a $75 million development that will allow for the continued growth of Anderson Hospital, in Anderson Township.<\/p>\n

Plans for the new patient tower were made public last week. Mercy Health will build the new tower at the front of the hospital, creating a new main entrance along State Road and allowing the hospital to go to all private patient rooms.\u00a0It will stand seven stories tall and provide more than 160,000 square feet of added space.<\/p>\n

A total of 118 new private patient rooms will be added, with one open floor for a future 32-bed inpatient unit. The tower will also feature a new acute rehabilitation unit with 24 additional beds as well as the latest advancements in healthcare design to provide a healing environment. Additional parking is also included in the project.<\/p>\n

Right now, the project is in the design \"\"<\/a>phase, but Mercy Health expects to start construction as early as the fourth quarter of this year and finish by early 2014. AECOM is the lead design firm for the project, as well as for Mercy\u2019s West Hospital in Green Township.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to reinvest in the community and continue our efforts to better serve our patients,\u201d Gyasi Chisley, site administrator for Anderson Hospital, stated in a press release. \u201cThis project will help us improve the level of comfort and privacy we provide for our patients, while also creating more space for new healthcare services that build on our comprehensive care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mercy Health has been serving the Greater Cincinnati area for more than 150 years. It is building a new $270 million hospital in Green Township and planning a new wing at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood that could cost as much as $100 million.<\/p>\n
