Enterprise Homes and Capital One Bank broke ground on Thursday, June 7, on The Greens at Irvington Mews, Baltimore\u2019s newest senior housing development. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Secretary Skinner, Enterprise Homes President Chickie Grayson and other officials attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Located on the city\u2019s west side, just \"\"<\/a>across the street from Mount St. Joseph High School and close to shopping, public transportation and medical facilities, The Greens at Irvington Mews will serve seniors and others with disabilities earning 50 percent of the area\u2019s median income or less. It will include 18 two-bedroom apartments and 82 one-bedroom apartments with energy-star appliances, wall-to-wall carpeting and large closets.<\/p>\n

The Greens at Irvington Mews also features over 5,000 square feet of common area space including a fitness room, hospitality suite, community room, lounge and computer center. Other amenities include 24-hour emergency maintenance, library, onsite laundry, controlled access entry and resident services. The community is pet friendly.<\/p>\n

The estimated total cost of the project is $15.8 million. Financing comes from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, equity from Enterprise Community Investment, Inc., a Capital One Bank loan, HOME funds from Baltimore City, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and developer equity. Capital One provided $13 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credit equity through Enterprise Community Investment, Inc..<\/p>\n

The Greens at Irvington Mews is expected to meet Enterprise Green Communities Criteria. Hord Coplan Macht is the architect for the 100-unit community while Harkin Builders, Inc. is the contractor. Habitat America will provide property management services. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.<\/p>\n
