Government officials, hospital leadership and leaders of the Poinciana community gathered on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 to celebrate the long-awaited groundbreaking of Poinciana Medical Center.<\/p>\n
The new facility, located in Poinciana\u2014ten miles south of Kissimmee, at the corner of Cypress Parkway and Solivita Boulevard\u2014will serve as a campus for the Osceola Regional Medical Center and HCA Healthcare Company. The facility will provide Poinciana residents with closer access to medical care.<\/p>\n
Comprised of two phases, the first will deliver, by early 2013, a Freestanding Emergency Department of 11,000 square feet, equipped with 12 exam rooms. In addition, the facility will include a 16-slice CT, radiography and fluoroscopy room, ultrasound, laboratory, and pharmacy. The structure will include an EMS entrance and helicopter pad for rapid transport of critically ill patients to Osceola Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n
Poinciana Medical Center will be a two-story, 90,000 square foot building with 24 private medical-surgical beds and a six-bed ICU. According to a press statement, in support of both inpatient and outpatient care, the facility will provide a full range of acute care services including diagnostic imaging, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, laboratory, pharmacy, and a full range of support services.<\/p>\n
The project calls for a nearly $65 million investment on behalf of HCA, yet the approximate square footage and lease rates have not yet been determined. Upon completion, the Poinciana Medical Center campus will house a freestanding medical office building with leasable square footage for physicians and other healthcare providers, while also creating 200 full-time jobs.<\/p>\n
