According to the St. Petersburg Times<\/em>, New York cancer research firm IRX Therapeutics could be heading to the Tampa Bay area by the end of the year. IRX\u2019s relocation of its headquarters from Manhattan to St. Petersburg would bring 40 jobs to the area, with the promise of another 280 within the next five years\u2014with an average salary of $97,000.<\/p>\n IRX Therapeutics did not eye a specific building for its new headquarters, but plans a new facility of its own in the city\u2019s Dome Industrial District, near Interstate 275 and 22nd<\/sup> Street South. As reported by the St. Petersburg Times<\/em>, the company was lured in part by $1.2 million in government incentives within a relocation package: $600,000 from the state of Florida innovation fund, $275,000 from Pinellas County Economic Development, $50,000 from the University of Florida and a $275,000 credit toward land owned by the city of St. Petersburg. Up to now, the industrial park site in the Dome that is to become the IRX drug manufacturing facility has been set aside for future expansion opportunities.<\/p>\n In other real estate news, the 50-acre vacant land previously known as \u201cDelaney Creek\u201d traded hands for $950,000; the land, located on the west side of Falkenburg Road south of Progress Boulevard, is zoned for as many as 374 town homes or 30,000 square feet of commercial space and 320 apartment homes.
