According to <em>Patch.com<\/em>, the project, which is being developed by the owners of Riverview Health and Rehab on East Warren, was approved by the Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission in June 2011, with a proposed deadline for groundbreaking of 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-acre parcel has been vacant since 2008, since the Children\u2019s Home of Detroit was shuttered, reports the online edition of <em>C &amp; G Newspapers<\/em>. Warren-based Lorenzo Cavaliere of the Cavaliere Companies, the director of development for Riverview Health and the project\u2019s architect and general contractor, managed to meet the agreed start date, but made some changes to the original plans, which called for complex renovation of the site\u2019s existing buildings. Under these revised plans, the top ridgeline of the north side of the main building will be 32 feet, 10 inches in height. As a result, the overall square footage was reduced by 36,000 square feet and the number of units was scaled down as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 independent living units: 77<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 assisted living units: 84<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 skilled nursing units: 90<\/p>\n<p>Also, there has been a decrease in the number of parking spaces (from 252 to 242) and the number of estimated employees dropped from 50 to 40.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/05\/grosse-pointe-rivers-residence.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-48385\" title=\"grosse pointe rivers residence\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/05\/grosse-pointe-rivers-residence.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"159\" \/><\/a>Apart from the main redevelopment project, the retirement village will also include The Rivers Residence Club, a housing complex designed for Grosse Pointe\u2019s active seniors. The 40 separate \u201ccottage style\u201d condominiums will range from 1,600 to 2,600 square feet and, according to the developer\u2019s plans, will surround CCRC\u2019s main building.
