In a step forward for Emory Point, the $250 million mixed-use project has signed its first retail tenants. The inaugural group will include CVS, Jos A. Bank, Marlow\u2019s Tavern, Which Wich, Solar Dimensions and Carriage Cleaners, said the project\u2019s lead developer, Cousins Properties Inc. Emory Point\u2019s retail space will be the local market\u2019s first in 20 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom locally owned stores and restaurants to national chains, Emory Point will provide the trade area with a unique mix of upscale retail and restaurant options,\u201d said Larry Gellerstedt, Cousins President and CEO.\u00a0 \u201cAdditionally, Emory Point retailers will create approximately 600 jobs for the local community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cousins is partnering with Gables Residential on project, located in the Clifton Corridor adjacent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Emory Point is the largest private development to get under way in Atlanta\u2019s Perimeter in more than three years. The $110 million first phase will include 443 luxury apartments and more than 80,000 square feet of retail, and is scheduled for fall 2012 completion. Construction started in mid-July, 2011. Timing of two future phases will hinge on market demand, the developers said.<\/p>\n
