Austin Community College has recently approved the issuance of $45 million in bonds for the development of its new Hays Campus in Kyle. $10 million will cover the cost of the 96-acre land purchase situated in Plum Creek, while the remaining $35 million will be used to cover construction, this as reported by the Austin Business Journal<\/em>. The project was designed by New York-based architectural firm, Gensler.<\/p>\n

According to The Statesman<\/em>, the project will break ground in late summer or early fall, as both the financing issue and the design development phase have been completed. ACC\u2019s next step for the Hays project is to negotiate a contract with the construction manager-at-risk, Flintco Constructive Solutions, reports the Austin Business Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A news release by the Austin Community College District reports that ACC secured an interest rate of 4.17 percent, the lowest for a construction project in the college\u2019s history. This allows ACC to take major steps forward with this development, according to Ben Ferrell, executive vice president for finance and administration.<\/p>\n

The new campus is expected to include advising and counseling, a financial aid office, a learning lab with free tutoring, online and on-site library services, science labs, computer labs, a testing center, a student commons area, a bookstore and more, according to ACC\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Another big project in Austin, the famous F1 track, is in the news this week with a ceremony celebrating the topping of the pit building. According to the Austin Business Journal<\/em>, the 270,000-square-foot building will serve as hospitality space above the team garages during race weekend. The three-level building can accommodate up to 5,000 people.<\/p>\n
