{"id":1004050301,"date":"2012-10-12T11:08:41","date_gmt":"2012-10-12T19:08:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/?p=73861"},"modified":"2020-04-08T09:22:07","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T17:22:07","slug":"new-kroger-store-launches-250m-hampton-roads-push","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/news\/new-kroger-store-launches-250m-hampton-roads-push\/","title":{"rendered":"New Kroger Store Launches $250M Hampton Roads Push"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Adrian Maties, Associate Editor<\/p>\n<p>Kroger Co. broke ground Oct. 4 on a $25 million project in Virginia Beach that will be the grocery chain\u2019s first Marketplace-brand store in the Hampton Roads region and the second in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Scheduled for completion next summer, the property will be the first of 10 Marketplace stores that Kroger plans to open in the Hampton Roads area over the next five years at an estimated total cost of $250 million, the <a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/10\/342011125322.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-73862\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/10\/342011125322.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a>the <em>Daily Press<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0Located on the former Holland Rd. site of a Super Kmart, the 124,000-square-foot\u00a0store will include traditional grocery offerings as well as 30,000 square feet of space for non-grocery items. It will also be Kroger\u2019s largest Hampton Roads store.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Virginia Beach store will follow a Marketplace scheduled to open this December in Richmond. Also in the works is a $20 million, 120,000-square-foot Marketplace on the former site of the I.C. Norcom High School property in Portsmouth.
