According to a press release, the five-story complex\u2014named Gateway West Apartments\u2014will feature two levels of parking and 8,000 square feet of retail space, atop which 280 luxury apartment units are to be built.<\/p>\n<p>The complex, which is to be constructed on 2.8 acres in the vicinity of Johnson &amp; Wales University, will feature luxury amenities such as a private courtyard, a clubhouse with a\u00a0 demonstration kitchen and an elevated heated pool offering unobstructed views of Uptown Charlotte.<a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/09\/GatewayWeast-AptsRendering.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-71399\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/09\/GatewayWeast-AptsRendering.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"147\" \/><\/a> The woodframe building was designed by Charlotte-based Urbana Architecture with additional input provided by Saber Engineering, Trilium Structures and Landworks.<\/p>\n<p>According to Christopher Herman, the regional multifamily leader for the project&#8217;s general contractor, Balfour Beatty Construction, Gateway West Apartments will be &#8220;a great asset to the city of Charlotte and the Gateway community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve worked hand-in hand with the neighbors to ensure that everything from construction logistics to the design elements fit within the context of the neighborhood,&#8221; Herman added.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected that the community\u2019s amenities and its close proximity to the <a href=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/09\/construction-trend-marcusmillichap-charlotte2012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-71401\" src=\"https:\/\/synd.yardi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2012\/09\/construction-trend-marcusmillichap-charlotte2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a>city\u2019s uptown area will make it especially appealing to young professionals.
