Hyatt Hotels Corp. is expanding its luxury brands in the Caribbean. An affiliate has agreed to manage a 200-key hotel in St. Kitts as part of the $1 billion Christophe Harbour master-planned community.<\/p>\n
Scheduled to open in 2015, Park Hyatt St. Kitts will feature 200 guest rooms and 50 residential condominiums. The two-phase project will begin with 125 guest rooms, two restaurants, a fitness center, a spa, and more than 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. Phase two will include 75 guest rooms and a third restaurant. Dubai-based Range Developments, Christophe Harbour\u2019s master developer, told Gulf News that construction costs for the hotel will top $200 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cPark Hyatt St. Kitts will continue our company\u2019s tradition of delivering an unprecedented level of luxury and unrivaled hospitality experience,\u201d said Pat McCudden, senior vice president of real estate and development, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.<\/p>\n
The hotel will be located in Banana Bay, less than 15 miles from Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, Port Zante cruise terminal and Basseterre, capital of St. Kitts and Nevis. Extending across 2,500 acres, Christophe Harbour will include a Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole golf course, beach club and 300-acre yacht marina and marina village.<\/p>\n
Park Hyatt St. Kitts joins four Hyatt-branded hotels under development in the Caribbean, including the Park Hyatt Bermuda, Andaz Turks and Caicos, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and Hyatt Place Bayamon and El Tropical Casino. \u00a0Three Hyatt properties operate in Trinidad and the Netherlands Antilles.<\/p>\n
Zacks.com reports that hotel development in the Caribbean is on the upswing because of saturation in U.S. markets. The investment research site notes that Marriott International Inc., InterContinental Hotels Group and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. are all planning expansions in the Caribbean. Smith Travel Research states there are nearly 7,800 hotel rooms under construction in the Caribbean and another are 19,200 planned.<\/p>\n
Hyatt is also expanding its brands in India, where 56 Hyatt-branded hotels are under construction.\u00a0 Last week the hospitality company announced that affiliates had signed management agreements for new properties in Gurgaon and Kochi. Andaz Gurgaon is slated to open in late 2014 and will offer 275 guest rooms and 75 serviced apartments. The 250-key Grand Hyatt Kochi is expected to open in early 2017.<\/p>\n

Three Hyatt hotels will open in India\u00a0 year: Park Hyatt Chennai, a 204-key hotel in Tamil Nadu\u2019s capital city; Hyatt Place Hampi, a 115-key property near the Bellary industrial district, and Hyatt Place Pune, Hinjewadi, a 117-key hotel located in a software hub known as Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjewadi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
