Skanska USA’s civil infrastructure division, Skanska USA Civil, in a joint venture with RailWorks subsidiary LK Comstock and Co., has secured a contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to provide construction services for the Second Avenue Subway systems project in New York City. The project has a construction cost of $261.9 million, $87 million of which will go to Skanska.<\/p>\n

The partners’ work will involve the modification of existing facilities, as well as track construction and the installation of systems for Phase I of the Second Avenue Subway. Work is on schedule to get underway in February 2012, with an estimated completion date in fall 2016.<\/p>\n

Skanska USA Civil is no stranger to MTA infrastructure projects. In 2007, the firm won a contract valued at $400 million for the $1.1 billion extension of the 7 Subway Line. Additionally, in 2011, the firm inked a $386 million deal to furnish and install finishes and systems for the line’s extension.<\/p>\n

And it has already been a busy year on the tracks for Skanska USA Civil. In addition to the new MTA assignment, the company kicked off 2012 with the announcement of a $347 million, joint venture design-build contract with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority for the construction of a 10-mile BART system extension in California’s Silicon Valley area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
