Skanska USA continues its role as a leading player at the Spring House research complex in Montgomery County, Pa., by securing a $60 million contract from Janssen Research & Development L.L.C. to provide construction-management services. Skanska’s construction unit, Skanska USA Building, will spearhead the renovation of nearly 180,000 square feet for Janssen, a member of the Johnson & Johnson group of companies.<\/p>\n

Skansa’s work will involve the remodeling of laboratory space and administrative offices in five buildings on the campus. The architectural firm of Flad\/AEI is spearheading design responsibilities for the undertaking. “This project will exemplify Skanska\u2019s ability to create modern and progressive laboratory upgrades,” Ed Szwarc, executive vice president and general manager with Skanska, noted in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n

It was in 2004 when Skanska first commenced work at the Spring House campus, and its activities since then have included construction management services for Johnson & Johnson’s U.S. Center of Excellence, the first phase of which consisted of the development of a 150,000-square-foot laboratory and office structure and the renovation of an existing four-story research building.<\/p>\n

This year has been a busy one for Skanska. In December alone, the company came onboard to complete a 121,400-square-foot project of new and renovated facilities for Cooper City High School in Cooper City, Fla.; won a $115 million assignment to expand and renovate St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga.; and secured a $50 million contract for work on a Boeing Co. delivery center in Everett, Wash. This month also brought a nearly $20 million contract from the Austin Community College District for preconstruction and construction management services for a project at the agency’s Elgin Campus in Elgin, Tex.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
